I am a Licensed Mental Health Counselor & Certified Supervisor who enjoys working with individuals, families and groups. I believe change and relief is possible for all, and it is a privilege to guide those who have decided to take the first step in their personal healing.
In my practice, my experience and specialties include: Adults, adolescents and families affected by substance abuse; families with patterns of behavioral dysfunction; parenting and family coaching/education; PTSD, depression, anxiety, and other mood problems; relationship difficulties; bullying and academic challenges. I have worked in community mental health centers, schools, hospitals, inpatient and outpatient programs.
I joined the working world after college (Boston University, 1990), and then spent many years exploring and learning that my strengths were in listening to and guiding others. Many years later, I returned to school, and received an M.A. in Clinical Psychology from The University of Massachusetts (2007). The goal of the program is to train “scientist practitioners,” which to me means I am compassionate as a counselor, yet I am dedicated to using clinically-sound treatments that are effective for you. There is no one size fits all, and I believe the best scientists are humanists with whom you feel connected.
As we are on this journey together, I will help you develop a healthy focus on yourself, learn to detach from long standing sources of inner pain and begin the path to healing your life.
