Nicole Blank Koles, Psy.D.

Nicole Blank Koles, Psy.D., received her doctorate in clinical psychology from Nova Southeastern University, Center for Psychological Studies. She received her B.A. in psychology from The George Washington University, graduating with honors. She completed her pre-doctoral internship in clinical psychology at the James J. Peters VA Medical Center and her postdoctoral fellowship at CBT/DBT Associates in New York City. Her specialties include Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) and group therapy for adolescents and adults.

Prior to joining The Counseling Group, Dr. Koles worked as a staff psychologist at CBT/DBT Associates and served as both an individual CBT and DBT therapist for adolescents and adults and a DBT skills group leader. Additionally, she co-led the adolescent multi-family DBT skills group. While at the James J. Peters VA Medical Center, Dr. Koles received training in individual and group therapy, with a focus on the treatment of mood and anxiety disorders, substance abuse, emotion regulation problems, trauma, and chronic pain. She was an individual and group DBT therapist, a member of a multidisciplinary DBT consultation team, and gained expertise in empirically supported treatments for trauma including prolonged exposure and cognitive processing therapy.

Dr. Koles has worked extensively with adolescents and young adults at college counseling centers including Barry University’s Center for Counseling and Psychological Studies and Yeshiva University’s Counseling Center. She has provided short-term therapy to adults on an inpatient psychiatric unit at Jamaica Medical Center. She has also facilitated peer support groups for grieving adolescents at the Children’s Bereavement Center in Miami.

Dr. Koles provides individual and group therapy to adolescents and adults. Her clinical expertise encompasses a wide range of problems including personality disorders, anxiety and mood disorders, substance abuse, eating disorders, emotion regulation, impulsivity, trauma, grief, and relationship difficulties
