Cristina Oliver, LMFT

Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist DBT Clinician

As a licensed marriage and family therapist with over a decade of experience, Cristina Oliver specializes in treating complex mental health conditions, including borderline personality disorder, eating disorders, self-harm, suicidal ideation, interpersonal issues, body image issues, anxiety, and depression. These conditions require specialized knowledge, empathy, and patience to navigate. Cristina also enjoys working with families and couples providing them with tools that will help them become more skillful at managing difficult situations and undoing maladaptive patterns.

Cristina’s passion lies in helping individuals understand and overcome emotional experiences or reactions that interfere with the life they want to live. She believes in a collaborative approach to her work, meeting clients where they are while also challenging them by providing practical, change-oriented strategies. She primarily works with adolescents, young adults, and adults as they navigate through critical life events. Her therapeutic approach relies heavily on Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), which has revolutionized the way we understand and treat emotional dysregulation.

Cristina earned her Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology from Florida International University in Miami, Florida. She earned her Master’s Degree in Marriage and Family Therapy from Carlos Albizu University in Doral, Florida. Before joining The Counseling Group in 2013, she worked in community mental health, where she gained experience working with adolescents who had been through the judicial system and their families. Within the Counseling Group, she gained experience in treating borderline personality disorder, eating disorders, depression, anxiety, couples issues, and family issues.
